Yesterday, a member in the Slack Channel (DM me on Twitter for access) reminisced about one of the best manufactured spending methods ever. Around 2005, the US government minted golden dollar coins. These coins were available for purchase with a credit card for no fee. Savvy frequent fliers quickly caught on to this, and were able to buy thousands of dollars worth of these gold coins, and get them shipped to their house for free. Once they had the coins in their possession, they simply had to go to the bank to deposit them in their account where they would use them to pay off their credit card.
While this method is no longer available, I’d argue there is an even easier method available right now that you can do from the comfort of your own house. However, this method is not without risks and you do have to pay a small fee. Let’s take a closer look.
